How is the size of the Designated Territory determined?
You will be granted a Designated Territory consisting of a 2 mile radius from your approved location, in a specific city and state. In some smaller cities, and at our sole discretion, we may award a single franchise per city, even though the city may be larger than 2 miles wide North to South or East to West. You will be licensed to operate a single Scandinavian Shave Ice at said approved location and within your Designated Territory.
Does Scandinavian Shave Ice operate company-owned businesses?
Morich LLC, an affiliated company, currently operates a business similar to the franchised shave ice retail location. Morich, LLC will not be offering franchises, will forward any leads or inquiries that it receives to franchisees, and will not be prospecting or accepting new business of the same type as that offered by Scandinavian Shave Ice franchisees. Two Beach Chairs LLC, the franchisor, does not operate any company locations.
How long has Scandinavian Shave Ice been in business?
Morich LLC was incorporated in the state of Hawaii on February 20, 2007 and began operations in 2007, for the purpose of operating a shave ice and internet café, located at 75-5669 Kuakini Hwy, Suite 2-203, Kailua Kona, HI 96740, and does not assume any of the legal, operational, or other obligations of Two Beach Chairs LLC. This company has not offered franchises in any line of business.
On March 8, 2008, we formed Two Beach Chairs LLC, a Hawaii limited liability company, for the purpose of making franchises available for the offering of shave ice, ice cream, internet and café services.
Neil Rasmussen started the Scandinavian Shave Ice business in 1992. It was sold to the current owners on March 31, 2007. The business has been in the same location the entire time since its opening date.
What does a Scandinavian Shave Ice franchised business offer instead of doing this on my own?
With our support and training, you will have a head start in getting your business up and running, and in becoming successful. The benefits of our franchise program include existing name awareness, established business practices, proven advertising program, operational procedures, technical support, buying power and sources, and industry recognition and support.
How much is the franchise fee?
The franchise fee is $30,000.00. The total estimated initial investment ranges from $131,400.00 to $297,700.00 including the first three month’s expenses.
What kind of training is available?
Training will be available both at our company headquarters in Kailua Kona Hawaii for one week and at your location for one week. Training will be conducted by members of our management team. Training will be provided for 2 persons per franchised business. Ongoing training is also available.
What if I do not have any business ownership experience?
Scandinavian Shave Ice offers business coaching and training in all aspects of owning and operating a Scandinavian Shave Ice business, including sales, sourcing inventory, advertising, understanding of equipment, personnel, and more.
May I sell my business?
Yes, but there are some qualifications the prospective buyer must satisfy, including approval from Scandinavian Shave Ice, the payment of a transfer fee, and completion of new franchisee training.
How long does it take to open a Scandinavian Shave Ice franchised business?
Scandinavian Shave Ice, a retail store that offers shave ice, ice cream, coffee and Internet Café services is operated from a leased facility. Scandinavian Shave Ice will assist you with site selection and with lease negotiation. After the keys to the premises are received, it takes about 1 to 6 months to open the business, based on our experience.
